Dr. Shrishail Kakkeri is a Professor in the Department of Product Design at Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design, with 30 years of combined experience in teaching (24 years) and industry (6 years). He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering Science, an M.E. in Machine Design, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Kakkeri has made significant contributions to research, publishing over 40 journal papers and technical articles in both national and international conferences. His research covers areas like biofuels, composite materials, robotics, and metalworking processes. He has filed 6 intellectual property rights (IPRs) and received 4 patents. Additionally, he has led funded projects, including one on biodiesel production, supported by AICTE under the MODROBs Scheme.
In terms of innovation, Dr. Kakkeri has developed several patents, such as a "Multi-Reflection Dome" and "Vertical Elevated Glass Cleaning Equipment." He has also guided 4 Ph.D. scholars, with one awarded a doctoral degree.
Dr. Kakkeri is actively involved in professional development, having conducted numerous faculty development programs (FDPs) and workshops on emerging technologies like 3D Printing, AI, and Robotics. He has delivered over 30 technical talks on topics like Industry 4.0, IPR, and robotics at various institutions and authored two textbooks for Mechanical Engineering students.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including ISTE, FIE, and CEngg, and has held various academic and administrative roles such as Board of Studies Member and Board of Examination Member for VTU. Dr. Kakkeri has also developed an automated manufacturing unit for Fujairah Steel Barrels in the UAE, contributing to industry automation.
