Completing a Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) my enable students to take up a career to the next level with Master of Design (M. Des.). This advanced qualification brings numerous benefits such as enhanced employment with a greater pay and value.

Students may become eligible to score opportunities after completion of B. Des. in their respective domains and look forward for a sustainable career in their field.

Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design offers 4 years full-time programme with 2 semesters every year. To earn a degree in B. Des., one has to successfully complete 8 semesters.

Aspirant must have appeared or completed HSC (10+2) in any discipline from a recognized institute, board or university with minimum of 45% for open category and minimum of 40% for other categories. Aspirants with acumen of drawing and design will be preferred.

We invite aspirants from all categories; however, all the admissions are granted only on the performance displayed the selection process comprising DPU All India Design Aptitude Test, Studio Test and Personal Interview.

Applications can be submitted online only. The application fee is Rs. 1,000/- only. The application fee can be paid through UPI, Google pay, Phone pay, and Credit/Debit cards also.

Applicant must comply with the eligibility criteria listed by the Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU) guidelines to take admission at Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design (DPUSOD).

• Applicant must not have any backlog in HSC (10+2).
• Applicant must have successfully attempted and cleared the DPU All India Design Aptitude Test (DPU AIDAT) conducted by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth.
• Based on the performance in the DPU AIDAT, applicant will be shortlisted and invited for the Studio Test and Personal Interview conducted at Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design, Tathawade, PUNE.
• Final Merit List will be calculated on the basis of DPU AIDAT + Studio Test + PI.

Online Proctored DPU All India Design Aptitude Test (DPU AIDAT) is an Aptitude Test conducted by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth for School of Design, Tathawade campus only. It is governed by our Central Examination Department (DPU) Pune, India. Proctored means, all actions, movements, prompts, and sound will be sensed by the screen camera to ensure no malpractices occur during the examination.

DPU AIDAT is conducted online and it is proctor-based Design Aptitude Test.

DPU AIDAT comprises of questions based on Visualization, Observation & Perception, Environmental Awareness, Mental Ability, Creativity, Design Sustainability, Communication skills and Design Problem Solving.

The DPU AIDAT will be for 100 marks spread across 100 questions to be successfully completed in 90 minutes.

Kindly note 100 questions are multiple choice questions having 1 mark each and no negative marking.

DPU AIDAT is scheduled on 13^th April, 2025 for 90 minutes at 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

DPU AIDAT mock test is scheduled from 7^th April, 2024 to 12^th April, 2024. This facility is extended to give you a primary idea of the technology, platform, interface, browser camera etc. Questions may or not be relevant.

The information of mock test will be sent to your registered email address only along with the mock test link, user id and password.

You must be alert and stay connected with our counsellor proactively.

Candidate will be given an idea or a small story or a theme or a particular punch-line. You may have to draw or sketch or illustrate the same story into a character, picture, story-board, logo, or portrait. This describes your ability to think and imagine, creative quotient, visualization, observe, perceive and design.

Here, early realization is more important. Once you realize that you have created many rough sketches, which has a story to be told or it conveys some message; then put it down on a paper and express yourself effectively. Portfolio could be a collection of drawings, sketches, objects designed and made out of wood, clay, metal, waste products, plastic or it could also be short story. It is an expression of thoughts in the form of an art.

Candidates may send the portfolio of their creations in a PDF format with their name and signature on each assignment to our counsellor after their application process is over.

Personal Interview (PI) concentrates more on the past academics pertaining to design preparation, why design field, future aspirations along with family back ground, co-curricular activities, extra-curricular activities, awards, achievements, experience, to generate important information about aspirant like, stay, relatives/guardian, medical history etc. Candidates having doubts may be clarified immediately to assist in taking an informative decision.

The programme fee per year for B. Des. is Rs. 3,00,000/- only. In addition to it, student has to pay the one-time university eligibility fee, university examination fee per semester as stated by the Vidyapeeth. There will be a 3% raise in the programme fee after completion of every year.

Student must submit the fee as mentioned below

Candidates may remit the programme fee through DPU ERP by online mode using credit cards, debit cards, net banking, and UPI. Institute does not accept cash in hand.

DPUERP is the safest mode inbuilt and you may use the same login and password that candidate may have used for paying the application fee. Access to DPUERP is strictly governed by DPU officials to ensure quick and safe transactions.

Once the fee is remitted, student will receive a confirmation on the registered email id. Student has to feed all the transaction details in the ERP and submit for approval from the accounts department of the institute. After the approval is granted for fee received, student can download the fee receipt.

The history of all transactions done, are saved to students DPUERP account for further records as and when necessary.

Candidate will receive a Provisional Letter of Admission from the Vidyapeeth if selected. The account details for remittance of Tuition Fee will be clearly mentioned. Candidates are advised to submit the Tuition fee to the same account.

One-time University Eligibility Fee and Semester-wise Examination fee should be submitted to the Vidyapeeth account only and not in the institute account.

Student Support Executive from the Student Support Section will send a circular for the same well in advance to students on their registered email and mobile as a notification. The same notification will be displayed on the institute notice board as Office Order.

Student can download the fee receipt for each transaction separately from their DPUERP account itself.

Institute officially communicates to every student in advance to remit the One-time Eligibility Fee through an official order by the Director of the institute and the same is displayed on the institute notice board. The same communication is also sent to students registered email id and mobile number.

Students are expected to remit the Eligibility Fee in the month of September 2025.

Institute officially communicates to every student in advance to remit the Semester-wise Examination Fee through an official order by the Director of the Institute and the same is displayed on the institute notice board. Students have to take No-Due’ certificate for annual tuition fee. Eligibility fee from the Student Support Section and Account Department. Students becomes eligible to apply for the Semester Exam only if the dues are cleared and authenticated by respective officials.

Students are expected to remit the Semester-wise Examination Fee in the month preceding to the exam scheduled.

Vidyapeeth and Institute offers all the assistance for education loan in form of documents necessary only after the student has confirmed the provisional admission by paying Rs. 3,00,000/-.

DPU is a self-funded university. The fees accrued from the student is re-invested for the student development as defined. Vidyapeeth (University) encourages students to realize the importance and value of paying the fees on time without any reminders.

Vidyapeeth may announce the scholarship for meritorious and deserving students based on their academic performance, attendance, behaviour, co-curricular activities, extra-curricular activities and initiatives taken by respective student during their programme tenure.

Admitted students may avail scholarship offered by the Government of India for education through National Scholarship Portal. Institute / Vidyapeeth holds no responsibility for any claim or guarantee for scholarship disbursement.

Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Design has a hostel facility on campus. We have a separate hostel facility for boys and girls with rectors and 24X7 security on campus patrolling. The campus is a secured place for any student with necessary amenities. Students staying at the hostel are expected to observe discipline, rules and regulations and maintain the decorum in the hostel premises.

House Rule book will be issued to all admitted students during induction.

Hostel Fee includes facilities such as tri-Seater capacity rooms, hot and cold water, washing machines on every floor, dining hall, security patrolling, CCTV in public places, entry and exit access controls, wardrobes, study table, chair bed mattresses.

The Hostel fee is decided by Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Society and will be announced in the month of June 2025. Hostel booking is confirmed on first-come-first-serve basis only. For hostel booking, the contact details will be updated on the website.

The institute timings are from 09:00 AM and ends at 05:00 PM. The students may have home assignments and workshops, seminars, co-curricular activities for which students will be informed well in advance.

Bachelor of Design is a Programme that develops students in stages where we build strong principles and fundamentals of design through foundation in the first year. Second year, the focus is more on core skills and techniques pertaining to their domain specialization and collaborate with other domain functionality.
